If you have a Mondeo 2001 (mk3) with a remote control for the central locking you can change the strategy of opening the doors. The normal mode is: push on the unlock-button once and all doors open. Second mode is: push on the unlock-button once and only the drivers door will unlock.

I am having to lock the door manually as the remote key doesnt seem to be working. I am assuming the key is faulty or the battery is flat. The only way round this at the moment is to open the door, turn off the ignition, jump out of the car, lock the door manually then run away quickly. Also as i approach the car it will unlock itself and again Drivers side electrics. My Mondeo is a 2009 (59) and has, in the last few days, developed an electrical issue. I can't control any of the windows or use the electric mirrors using the door controls. The central locking works only on the passenger side (and boot & filler cap) - I have to manually lock the front and rear driver's side doors.
Mondeo MK4 Problems. Hi all, I have had 3 mk3 Mondeo's all estates, I like them as I am a taxi driver. 1st a 1.8 petrol replaced usual stuff, tyres/brakes and clutch. 2nd 2.0 TDCI bag of :BEEP: almost everything went wrong with it. 3rd a 2.0 petrol again usual stuff, tyres/brakes and clutch and for some reason 3 fuel pumps in 4 years.
An easy upgrade to remote central locking. Remove module, plug in replacement & program remote fob key. As for interior light staying on. it should turn on when unlocking doors & turn off when ignition is turned on or door are locked.
